THE CITY OF ASHEVILLE MAKES ITS COVID-ERA OUTDOOR DINING PROGRAM PERMANENT

The City of Asheville is currently accepting applications for its new long-term Outdoor Dining Program to allow for permanent Sidewalk Dining and/or the installation of a Streetery. There is an unlimited number of permits available for 2024 program, so any establishment planning on utilizing outdoor dining is encouraged to apply for a permit ASAP. Any business with an existing temporary parklet for outdoor dining that does not plan on applying for the long-term Outdoor Dining program must remove all structures associated with outdoor dining by January 2, 2024.

Establishments can apply for an Outdoor Dining Permit at the Asheville Development Portal. The fee for the application is $7.00 per square foot for Sidewalk Dining, $3,000.00 for a Streetery located in one parking space, or $4,500.00 for a Streetery located in two parking spaces. The following materials are required to be submitted with the application:

·         A detailed site plan;

·         Sealed architectural drawings (for Streeteries only);

·         Specifications for materials, furniture, and heating;

·         Signage detailing hours of operation for public use based on the template provided by the City;

·         A Certificate of Insurance;

·         Proof of inspection by the Health Department;

·         Proof of ABC permit for alcohol service;

·         A storage plan, if applicable; and

·         A Neighbor Letter of Consent, if the outdoor dining area is to exceed the space directly in front of                your business (template to be provided by the City).
