UPDATED 6/17 5:25PM: Senate Bill 574 which clarifies that the 10 year statute of repose in N.C.G.S. 1-52(16) was not intended to apply to groundwater contamination has been placed on the Senate calendar for June 17th re-referred to Senate Judiciary I Committee on June 17th. The Judiciary I Committee meets on Tuesday and Thursdays at 10AM. The Judiciary I Committee will meet and review SB 574 at Noon on Wednesday, June 18 in Room 1027/1128 of the Legislative Building.
If the bill is passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor, it would attempt to clarify the original intention of the legislature, blunting the effects of the recent United States Supreme Court Decision in CTS v. Waldberger (details).
