NOTICE TO BREWERY, WINERY, AND DISTILLERY CLIENTS WITH EXISTING TTB PERMITS

TTB has begun conducting “compliance” checks before reviewing any amendments to federal permits or applications for new permits (locations or different commodities).  This means that TTB is checking to confirm that all excise tax returns and reports on operations are current with the IRS before TTB will review your amendment or new application.  You will receive a “correction request” from the TTB if their check turns up missing reports or returns and, if you do not file the missing reports/returns within a short period of time, your amendment/application will be abandoned (i.e., wasting your time).  Therefore, it is important to file these reports and returns prior to filing with TTB, in order to maximize efficiency.  Operational reports and returns can be filed via pay.gov and TTB’s website also provides additional guidance on how to stay compliant.
